My Budget Response
As I said in one of my previous posts, if you are silent for too long in Trinidad and Tobago people tend to forget and neglect you. On the 8th of September the Government of Trinidad and Tobago announced its 2010 - 2011 National Budget and not one word was mentioned about the differently abled community. I read the budget yesterday and I did not even see the words disabled, differently abled or handicapped. I think that the National Budget should have been called the National Budget for able bodied people because it surely was not a National Budget for differently abled people.

The fact remains that members of the public who are disabled are always being neglected, there is no mention of disabled persons in the 2010-2011 budget because the new government show no regards or respect for disabled persons in this country, its absolutely obvious. The Ministry of Social Development is most definitely NOT doing a proper job, when was the last time a survey was done to determine how many persons are living with major disabilites in this country? While roads and drains are being fixed and laptops are being given out to first formers, disabled persons live off of grants that are not suitable for their needs, well hats off to the new government ........ENT
